Daniel 2: Can Prophecy Be Tested?

Does biblical prophecy make claims that history can examine?

Daniel 2 gives a sequence of kingdoms represented by a multi-metal image: Babylon, an inferior successor, a third kingdom, a fourth strong kingdom, divided successors, and finally God’s everlasting kingdom. Historicist interpretation identifies the sequence as Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, divided Europe, and the kingdom of God.

Reformation principle. Before using prophecy to identify religious powers, first test whether the prophetic method works on broadly recognizable history.
