Daniel 8–9: Messiah, Sanctuary, and Time
How do the Messiah prophecy and sanctuary prophecy fit together?
Daniel 8 names Medo-Persia and Greece, then moves to a horn power that attacks God’s people and sanctuary truth. Daniel 9 provides a seventy-week prophecy centered on Jerusalem and Messiah. Historicist Adventism sees Daniel 9 as explaining the time element left unresolved in Daniel 8 and as establishing the beginning of the longer 2,300-year period.
Reformation principle. Messianic prophecy should lead to Jesus before it leads to a date chart.
