Revelation 13: The Sea Beast

What system receives the dragon’s authority and demands worship?

The first beast of Revelation 13 combines features from Daniel 7, receives authority from the dragon, exercises worldwide influence, blasphemes, persecutes, and receives worship. Historicist Adventism connects it with the same Roman ecclesiastical system represented by Daniel 7’s little horn. The prophetic critique concerns a religious-political system and its authority claims, not the moral worth of individual adherents.
